Course Description

This course introduces the statistical programming language R and Quarto, a modern publishing system for reproducible research. Designed for beginners and open to students from all disciplines, it emphasizes practical data visualization rather than statistical theory. Students learn to create clear, effective graphics with ggplot2, automate repetitive tasks through coding, and improve the reproducibility of their work. The course also encourages the use of generative AI tools, such as ChatGPT, as programming assistants. By the end of the course, students will produce visualizations from instructor-provided or self-selected datasets, selecting appropriate graphical methods to communicate data effectively for different analytical purposes.
